A Tree's Voice

Happy Birthday tree
I last saw you
How long ago?
It’s been far
Too long.
My Birthday is next month
I’m sorry that your
Ringing has stopped
It was a truly
Exquisite sound
The bell used to ring
All on its own
But a hammer soon came
And hit the bell
And broke its cheerful sound.
